Spring Photo Shoot

For Easter I dressed up all my dolls in nice, springy outfits and took them outside for a photo shoot. I did a group picture, but also single pictures of each doll. I am going to use these as profile pictures because the place where I used to take profile pictures no longer exists.

This was really fun to take. I had to arrange all fifteen dolls. (Count them!) Most of the dolls are positioned well. A couple of them I don’t like so much, such as Gabi, Jenny, and Faith. Overall though, I really like this picture.

I am going to try to use it as a header image. I don’t know how well that will work…

Mckenna is not colorblind


I really like this picture. Mckenna’s hair is frizzy, and I didn’t have a good pair of shoes for this outfit that no one else was wearing, but whatever. Who needs shoes?

How To Do Braided Buns On Your Doll

dscn42411                             You will need: Your doll, a hair brush, and water (Optional) dscn42421                               Start by brushing out your doll’s hair. Obviously Mckenna’s hair could use some brushing, so I am going to brush it till it is all smooth. dscn42431                        You want it all free of tangles, like this. dscn42441                             Now you want to part it into two sections. If your doll already has a part it will be easier, but Mckenna doesn’t, so I am just going to separate it and brush it out, dscn42451                           Make sure it is all the way brushed out. dscn42471                            Now you are going to take a little piece of hair and braid it. dscn42481                            Braid it all the way down. dscn42491                             Now take all the hair and braid it. dscn42501                             Now twist it up into a bun. You can use hair pins or hair bands to hold it, your choice. dscn42511                         Enjoy!



The Picnic Mishap

All morning the girls of the Turtles cabin had prepared for the picnic they were going to have for lunch. They had baked treats, made flags, and cut watermelon. Now they were setting out on their picnic. DSCN8655[1]                      The girls sat down and prepared to spread out the blanket. DSCN8656[1]                   Mckenna pulled the blanket out of the basket and looked down into it. No food was to be seen. DSCN8657[1]                             She turned to look at Lea. “You have the food in your backpack right?” She asked.

“No, I thought you had it.”

“We left it at camp.” The two girls said it in sync.

DSCN8658[1]                        “That’s okay.” Said Eileen. “We can pick berries.” DSCN8659[1]                      Everyone turned to look above them. A berry tree that no one except Eileen had seen was in the sky. Lea and Mckenna set off to get some berries. DSCN8660[1]                        Lea balanced on a branch. DSCN8662[1]                     While Mckenna just sat on a stem. DSCN8663[1]                    The basket was nestled in the vines. DSCN8664[1]                         Meanwhile the girls left behind prepared everything. They laid out the picnic blanket, picked leaves to use as napkins and plates, picked flowers to put in the basket, found a berry bowl, and put out sticks to use as stabbers. DSCN8665[1]                            Lea and Mckenna returned. Seeing everything they were delighted. DSCN8666[1]                          They nestled the berries in the bowl and settled the flowers in the basket. DSCN8667[1]                       Sitting down to eat, the berries looked so good they were eaten soon. DSCN8668[1]                       When everything was packed away and ready to go back to camp Grace spoke up. This was great and all, but maybe we can have another picnic, this time with food?


Turtles In The Kitchen

Yup. More apologizing for awful pictures. (The I pad doesn’t have a flash! Who knew?) Anyway, for team bonding, the turtles decided to make something for the rest of the camp! img_0169        Grace insisted that they all wear buns and aprons. They took a before picture. (Eileen said so that there was proof that they did intend to bake, and not just kill each other.) img_0174        After several minutes of battling for the mixer they worked it out. Mia read the recipe. img_0171        Grace mixed. (Without the coveted mixer.) The rest of the girls did what was needed. Eileen poured everything in the bowl. img_0175         Mckenna got stuff out of the fridge. img_0176        And Lea did everything else. Here she got stuck sweeping. img_0177          The team bonding worked, and soon they had made several treats.

Random Trip Stuff

This weekend I went on a trip with my family to visit an Aunt. Mckenna came along, and here is some random doll stuff. I didn’t bring my camera into the hotel so they are all car pics, but some of them are good. It was at least ten hours in the car, and Mckenna helped with some of that.

I found an american girl book in the book section and read it on the way home.

In a couple of months we are taking a longer vacation. I want to bring a doll, but my Mom wants me to leave it at home because I took my time dressing Mckenna. So if you want reviews, photo shoots, crafts, news, posts instead of nothing for two weeks like this post! Maybe if lots of people want posts Mom will let me bring a doll.


Review Violet Heart Watch

DSCN8040[1]     What time is it? Time to review the violet heart watch! When I sent one of my dolls to the american girl doll hospital they were out of hospital bracelets so they sent me this watch instead. I have enough hospital bracelets of my own, my dolls don’t need any. I am glad to have a watch though. DSCN8043[1]       The watch is made of plastic with a buckle and a screen. It looks a little bulky around the watch part.  There are no numbers, and the handles are just printed on. I hate this. If I can buy a working watch at the dollar store why should I buy a not working 8$ doll watch? DSCN8046[1]  The strap says A*G and has three holes. DSCN8044[1]   The buckle really works, but although there are three holes it is really hard to get the thing in the last one. It would work for smaller dolls, but that would make it look really weird. I don’t understand this design, but I like that they put a working buckle on it. DSCN8047[1]   There is as button on the side.

I wouldn’t pay 8$ for this, but I am glad to have it. It is a good addition to many outfits. I give it 3/5 stars.

The Truth About Grace


The girls were asleep in their room. Three of the girls were sound asleep.


Eileen groaned and was about to go back to sleep when she realized. ‘It’s the last day of the year!’ and checked her blogs. None of the blogs stood out to her, when suddenly she found Lea, girl of the year 2016. She tapped Mckenna, who came over to sit on her bed.


They poured over the pictures together.


A grumbling Maria came in telling them to be quiet.

“We just saw the next girl of the year!”


Pretty soon Maria, Lily Anna, and Hope sat with them, staring at the pictures.

“I want to see it!” Hope yelled. She made a grab for it, but it fell between the wall and the bed.


Sandie started to grumble but soon she saw what it was.

“Is this Lea?” She shrieked. “Grace’s replacement?”

DSCN6688[1]Then she realized that Grace was in the room. She tried to take it back but Grace just turned over and cried. Mckenna shoved everyone out of the room so she could talk to her.


“Come on Grace.” Mckenna tried to convince her. “Come out and talk to me.” Grace sighed but she got up.


She got on the top bunk, buried her face in her arms, and cried.

“What did I do wrong?”


After some luring by Mckenna, Grace came out and sat with her to talk.

“Why am I getting replaced? Am I not good enough?”

Mckenna giggled, remembering what she had gone through. “Grace, It’s not that you are not good enough. You are plenty good enough. But you are a girl of the year, not girl of the years.”

“But I don’t want to retire!” Grace burst out.

“If you didn’t retire, then you wouldn’t have so much stuff.” Mckenna explained “Plus remember how much stuff Lexie made for you, and how much she played with you?”

“Yeah I guess that’s true. I had a lot of fun in my year,” Grace admitted. “and I was really excited to be here.”

“Another girl is coming here instead.” Mckenna told her.

“I had a lot of fun in my year.” Grace said.  “I don’t want to go, but it will be fun having a new friend. I bet we will be great friends.”

“I have an idea!” Mckenna explained. And then she was gone.


Mckenna herded her sisters into the park. Eileen and her wore her clothes, and used her things.

“I’ll go get her.” Mckenna told the girls “When she get’s here yell surprise, and we’ll have our party.”


Grace was in the kitchen, cooking up a treat. Then without a word, Mckenna pulled her away.


Mckenna pulled her into the park, and everyone yelled surprise! Grace looked to Mckenna for an explanation.

“I just wanted to make you feel better about getting retired, so I set up a party.” Mckenna told her.

“Free treats!” Eileen yelled.


Grace went up to her cart to get a treat.


Then she talked.


Then, when everyone was ready they went into the kitchen to decorate a gingerbread house.


The gingerbread house got moved to make room for them to play pool.


So they did till ten till midnight.


They paraded to the living room.


Then they got ready to watch the ball drop.


“This is nice Mckenna.” Grace told her. “Thank you.”


10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1! The ball dropped and Grace was retired. But for once she didn’t care.


A Hike In The Woods With Mckenna

I ran away into the woods. Just for a little bit, but it was fun. I bundled up, and off I went!


I jumped into the soft leaves to start the adventure.


I climb up the stairs, but they are big, so it takes awhile.


I look around. It is a very big yard, so I’ll have to be careful not to get lost.


Just then a gust of wind picks up my hat, and I run after it.


I bend down and pick the hat.


I stand back up, realizing something. I’m lost!


I walk over to that big tree.


I jump up on it. Now I remember where I am.


I fell off into a pile of leaves. Then I set off to go home.


I start walking.


The bridge is bouncy, like a trampoline.


Then I see the water, and get off the bridge.


I get inside, cold from the wind.


I take off my stuff, and drop it.


Just as I’m getting warm Eileen comes in.

“Will you take me outside!”

“Not right now.”


“Come sit with me?”



Eileen sits with me, watching the cat movie. I am glad ti have a warm house and good friends. Lexie

A Hairstyle for Mckenna

I decided to do a hairstyle on Mckenna. This is how it turned out.DSCN6352[1] Ready to do it on your Mckenna?DSCN6342[1]

First brush our her hair.

Pull down two strips of hair about the same amount in each section. DSCN6348[1]

Braid them (Or twist, or fishtail, or french braid, or french ponytail,) all the way to the end. DSCN6349[1]

You can ether just flip the hair back, DSCN6350[1]

Or tie it up.

Join the two braids in the back with a hairband. DSCN6351[1]

Now you have a headband. You can ether leave it down, DSCN6352[1]

Or tie the rest of the hair back. Ether way Mckenna has a sporty hairstyle.


Mckenna’s birthday



Today is my birthday! I am having a party for all of my friends, but I have to wait for them to come! 


First we had a gymnastics competition.



Everyone got a blue ribbon. 


Then we made ribbon wands. 


I got lots of cards, but only one gift. 

It was a very happy birthday!

Today was Mckenna’s birthday. I got her a year ago! I still remember the excitement I had opening that box, and all the fun times. Happy birthday Mckenna!
